The Immigrant's Arrival

For this painting I used a photograph I took in the early morning hours of January 16th 1964 on our arrival in America. In my photo the Statue of Liberty is further in the background, shrouded in heavier fog. But with todays situation about immigration I thought to show my own experience and the symbolic importance of the Statue of Liberty. So I brought it forward to give it more importance. The new immigrant arriving in America seeing Liberty. I am getting emotional every time I see this picture.
