I finished another one of my masterpieces. This one (a small one: 6" x 4.5"), actually started as an empty picture frame.
I had gotten the frame with a profound saying in it and decided it would look better with one of my paintings in it. So the first thing for me to do was looking for the right type of painting with the most suitable color scheme and something that would look good as a small painting in that frame. After a long time of going back and forth I decided on a winter scene. I found a photo I liked so I had my colors, next I had to figure what would be happening in the picture and decided on a couple walking in a snowy road. Now I was looking for a photo of the kind of road, but it had to be next to a river, which I wanted in the painting. After a couple days I found a few photos, which were suitable candidates. Great, I took out some paper and a pencil and started making sketches of the painting. After a half dozen drawings, half of them were not for this painting, but I had to get them out of my mind so I could concentrate on what I needed, I was ready to paint. Since I had prepared the base before hand the white sheet was daring me to get started.
Three hours later I finished.
So when somebody says to me: "Well that must have taking you no time at all to do that small painting!" I have to take a deep breath and force myself to just smile.
